Case study

The problem

A logistics company in Singapore handed its operators printed training material and manuals. On the job, the paper got lost or dirty. The company planned to issue tablets to its operators and needed a platform to put on them.

What we built

A document library in the style of Google Drive, with a web app for uploading and mobile apps for reading. Trainers and back-office staff upload and organise documents, and role-based access controls who can add, change or see each one. It was built for any kind of document, starting with training material and manuals.

What changed

Operators could open the manual they needed on a tablet instead of relying on paper copies. The platform ran for around two years after handover, with a rollout planned for more than 2,000 staff.

Technical notes

React web app for uploading and administration; React Native apps for iOS and Android tablets; Node.js and MySQL back end. Role-based access control separates the people who manage documents from the people who read them.

My role

Designed and built it end to end, then handed it over to the client.
