The problem
A Singapore health-tech start-up wanted to fix how clinics refer patients to labs and imaging centres. Referrals were made by phone, so appointments were hard to track and easy to lose.
What we built
A web platform for doctors, clinic staff and the labs and imaging centres they refer to. Clinics refer a patient and book the appointment in one place, and a live chat connects each clinic with the provider handling the referral. Doctors would only use it if their patients' data was safe, so patient details, appointments and chat are end-to-end encrypted. Only the doctor and the service provider hold the keys, and even the start-up running the platform cannot read the sensitive information.
What changed
More than 20 clinics and 3 service providers used it, and referrals and appointments became far easier to track and manage.
Technical notes
React web app with live chat; Node.js and MySQL (Sequelize) back end. Patient details, appointments and chat messages are end-to-end encrypted, with keys held only by the doctor and the service provider, so the platform operator cannot read them.
My role
Designed and built it end to end, then handed it over to the client.
